C24 Only Don’t Push Them!
One of our believing girls – I’ll call her Andrea here – was an assistant at an English Camp of a progressive church. In addition to participating in all sorts of games and organizational matters, she was given the task of having a short speech for one evening. At the morning meeting of the team that day, one believing leader declared:
„Especially we must not push those unbelievers!“
Andrea then called me to see if she had to remake her talk. Maybe to take away the Jesus elements she planned to share from her own life. At first I asked, “What’s the goal of that English Camp? What should happen ideally before the kids leave? ”After listening to the goals, I said: “Don’t push anyone! Only with all humility and kindness tell them from your own experience what it is like to live in personal connection with living Jesus, and how they can invite this Jesus as well.”
After the evening program, several of the young unconverted people came to Andrea, remarking how wonderful was what she said and how she lives with Jesus. „My grandmother told me stories,“ an unbelieving girl shared, „but she certainly doesn’t have that kind of contact with Jesus as you do.“ Even some kids from Christian homes came to Andrea: “My Christianity has always been more like obedience to my parents. But it’s completely shining out of you… “

Sure, we cannot push anyone. That wouldn’t work anyway.
In that week, Andrea told the Good News to eleven young people in personal talks! And two girls received Jesus with her; with no pressure! Only on the basis of personal favor, simple questions, smiling radiance of inner joy, and sharing experiences with living Jesus. When Andrea saw any interest, she knew exactly what to say next to lead them directly to the Lord. You see, really no pushing. Only grateful joy in heart and many times tried path to the Good News.
It proved that
the greatest „pressure“ was experienced inside, by the few believers in the team!
Just because they didn’t know what to say to the unbelievers – to make „natural“…
I completely understand them. I used to be there too. I also didn’t want to learn anything, because it seemed „unnatural“ to me…

These basic steps are worth to MEMORIZE. Then we can start with anyone, anytime, anywhere, completely normal, naturally and most importantly without any pressure. Because we have a rehearsed set of tools, we can listen to the present Jesus and discern whether our unbelievers are ready or not. If they are not, we are still a blessing to them. And when they are ready – and surprisingly many are – we go step by step to the Good News, to the challenge and to the immediate reaffirmation of their new faith.
Yes, here in the Czech Republic (and in Slovakia!) there live spiritually prepared people. They are just waiting for someone to give them a clear message about Jesus, clearly and kindly, including a practical guide how to surrender to Jesus, without religious philosophizing and without repulsive Christian language.
Lord Jesus, life with You is wonderful, deep, colorful, strong, though not always easy. Why are some Christians deceived that the humble sharing of joy with You is a „pressure“ for unbelievers?
