A01 “How Do You Get the Unbelievers
to Your Bible Study?”
(Turn the English subtitles on in the video!)
A good friend of mine, who has been walking with Jesus for more than fifteen years, asked me a question: “What are you doing that even complete unbelievers come to your Bible study?”
Few years ago I joined a club. I got to know the members, and gradually, around 30 of them came to my Bible study. It was held at our place or somewhere else. Some of them came only once, others were coming regularly for a few months, and more than ten of those new friends invited Jesus into their lives.
The reading itself is quite simple. We call it “Discovery”. Someone even called it “creative Bible reading”. We read a short story and, with a few questions, we think what the story tells us about Jesus, about people, and, of course, what’s there for our own lives.
It’s really important at these sessions that no one gives a lecture, no one “preaches”. It’s about collective and creative discovering, where all the present contribute. It includes even our friends who don’t know Jesus yet! The experience is clear: everyone leaves with their own discoveries. Of course, we are mutually affecting one another, and developing our discoveries together, but still, there are our own thoughts, and decisions, what we are going to use in our lives.
“How do you do it that even complete unbelievers come to your Bible reading sessions?” a friend asked. I started thinking and observing myself and reactions of my unbelieving friends, I looked what the Bible says about it and discussed with Jesus. I observed other fellow workers, who are in touch with people living without Jesus, and do this Bible study themselves, and I took notes extensively. That’s how the material for this series was created. Here I’ll be sharing some useful principles and experience. Through these principles, I form BRIDGES TO PEOPLE. Now, I can use them and meet with people where they are – meet with their hearts.
I am certain that these short lessons will help you to a similar experience and to learn the skills. You are probably different from me and have completely different people around you. Regardless, if you use these principles with the people around you, you learn to use them with ease, and if you unlearn some things so that you won’t build up barriers between you and your friends, then at least some of your people will not only come to your Bible study, but you’ll help many of them get to know Jesus as their Savior and personal Friend. Also, you’ll help them to keep following Him and to even start their own Discovery groups with their friends, soon.
It is really simple. Do you accept it? It would be a five-minute video a few times a week from me, and applying the principles on your side. Nothing will happen without practical usage! But if you’ll try it, I’m looking forward to changes that will happen in only a few weeks!
Thank You, Jesus, for being with us in this. You promised to be with us until the end of time. So we hold onto that and are anticipating great things You’ll be doing in our lives and around us.
