D08 Remembering in Heaven
Are you looking forward to heaven? The Apostle John quotes Jesus in the 14th chapter: „In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. 3 „If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:2-3) That’s great! Those who have invited Jesus into their lives as their Savior will have a place there with Him, that Jesus Himself prepares for them…!
The apostle Paul knew so much who his beloved Jesus was that he wrote to his friends in the city of Philippi, „For me to live is Christ and to die is gain. …I have a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is much, much better… (Philippians 1:21, 23)
Sure, none of our ideas even remotely reflects the reality that awaits us in the kingdom of heaven with Jesus. And yet… try for a moment to „imagine“ that you are already in heaven with the Lord and with all your wonderful believing friends. (Even with me…) We sing, we rejoice, we tell each other stories of how it was hard sometimes to follow Jesus down there, how some people rejected Him, some mocked us and were against us. But then some of them had an experience and finally gave their hearts to Jesus! Their transformation was then wonderful fruit of our toil and of enduring all kinds of ridicule and rejection.
As you’re chatting with your friends, a guy comes from somewhere, greets you and being moved says:
„Hi. It’s so nice to see you here. Do you remember when you were down there talking to me about this amazing Jesus? I could clearly see that you were doing it because you ‚should‘, and I was making fun of you. I told you you were a bigot and even more ugly things. Forgive me, please.
Time and time again you have shown me your interest and hope, which at first seemed naive, yet somewhere deep down was attractive to me! When I felt bad, I often thought of your repeated stories about Jesus, that you talked to Him no matter what, and that He helped you. You told me that we don’t perceive Him because of the bad things we have done or just intended. One time I felt so bad that I said yours, ‚Jesus, please forgive me for every bad thing I’ve ever done. Come into my life, guide me, be with me always…‘ I meant it sincerely. And gradually, a lot of things changed. A few months later I brought Patrick to Jesus, the one over there. And then George and Christian, I’ll introduce them to you later.
Thanks a lot! – You have a huge part in the fact that I am here, and also the people I just named! You even have a part in those who were brought to Jesus by them! Forever we will be grateful to you that we are here now! Let’s go to Jesus and bow down to Him and thank Him together…!“
So much just a little daydreaming about how our talks and reminiscing may take place one day there at Jesus‘ dwelling place, which He is preparing for us, when we meet people we have brought to Him down here.
If you haven’t brought anyone to the Lord yet, you still have many opportunities! As long as you are here and they are here. Through Bridges to People, I try to help you. Lord Jesus, thank You for the amazing work You have done down here on this earth. Thank You for coming here in the first place! Thank You for Your fantastic teaching and extraordinary miracles, but most of all, thank You for Your irreplaceable sacrifice that made us condemned into beloved children of the Creator. To you we owe our complete devotion, Lord Jesus. You are simply great.
